the buttons are nice put the shifting all the time gets to me after awhile.
why buy a stick?? the new dodge heavy dutys you cant get a stick in the hemis. the hemi in the heavy dutys might get anywere from 8-10 driving around and thats bad in my book the ford V10 or GM 6.0liter is a better choise.
Why do you keep posting this crap...? Do you read the BS your spouting out or just pull any random comment out of a hat and post it.
YES you can get the 6-speed stick in the heavy duty trucks WITH THE HEMI and there are plenty of people on Dodge Truck forums with real numbers getting the same gas mileage as me with the same setup and gearing. Plus the 6th gear on the manual boost highway numbers to about 20mpg too !
I live out of town so actually have a lot of the mileage getting on interstate then getting off in town. Plus Fort Smith is actually a pretty small town so you dont spend a lot of time idleing waiting for traffic. I see somewhere around 17 normally. Sometimes if I am in a hurry and really rushing doing the foot to the floor board take offs and speeding I see it drop to 15. I dont think I have ever seen 13 average unloaded. You and I have similar trucks I believe builder. My 2005 with the 5 speed got around 15 normally and dropped some when I hurried but with the 6 speed I generally see 15 to 17 in normal everyday drivingI enjoy driving and dislike trying to drive real gently to save fuel. I just drive normally and accept the consequences. In my case, and honest 13MPG in stop/go driving driving by tach & shift points. Everytime I get in someone elses diesel truck, their computer readouts say about the same as my truck for overall MPG....usually 12-14 MPG.
I should have clarified you will not get a stick on the new 2010 dodge rams if the person waits to get one of them you can still get them now though your right. and no my cuz has a hemi and a fellow worker has one both are 2500HD hemi autos and get between 8-12mpg so no im not just saying things that are not true. Talk is that you wont be able to get a stick behind the cummins in a few years aswell. not trying to rain on anyones paraid just saying.
Let's see, the "big 3" are all bleeding green from every orifice at the moment. Stick transmissions don't make but 20 bucks profit. Auto-trans makes about $500 profit. Hmmmm, now why do they push them so hard ? Add in that more options make it more costly to produce, how long until they streamline the production line?

I was hauling gravel from a gravel pit at the time and got the truck weighed before and after loading .
It weighed about 6000 pounds more after loading than it did before.
This was not a stock 3/4 ton but a beefed up heavy duty camper special.
The attached picture shows my truck during a deck building project.
I am now considering a 2008 F150 4x4 super cab. It is over $11,000 off original MSRP.
It should also be more heavy duty than my 2001.
I tow my tractor on a tandem axle trailer once in awhile. What I really wanted was more payload as indicated in the attached photo.
The F150 is more agressively sale priced. F250's are less discounted, and very difficult to find at this date.
The Ford propaganda machine was also impressive at the dealership. Ford looks pretty good.

I do believe you! I have done the same with crushed stone and at one time, 40 50lb bags of lime, in my '87 Ranger. I won't claim it was a good idea, though it got it done.Believe it or not I actually drove away from a gravel yard in a 4 cylinder ford ranger with just over a ton of pea gravel in the back. Not the smartest thing I've ever done but it did make it home with no damage. the front wheels felt like they were only touching down every now and then...![]()
