New Pasture Saplings

I found that a Jack with a Jenny is usually ok, too. The Jenny keeps the Jack calm.

Actually herbicides work anytime the plant is actively growing, from spring to fall, but not when they are dormant.
Yep, that's what I thought Eddie was saying.

I fully admit to not being an expert, but after talking to the experts in my are at the Ag Extension, I'm going to disagree on a technical point. While they may work any time of the year, there are times of the year that they work a lot better then other times of the year here in East Texas. That would be Spring and Fall. And in those to periods, you have about two weeks in each season that's considered the best time to apply so you get the best results without wasting your money.
Yep. I spray 50 miles of roadsides. As soon as the plant is leafing enough that I can identify it, I'm spraying. Kills the snot out of them. Mid Summer when it's hot/dry and the plant is sort of dormant, not so much....

I really do appreciate all the help. I will do my best to get some pictures of the property when I can manage to get home when there is still some light out and when it's not raining, here in NC that's a hard thing to do this time of year it seems like.

That’s what all the labels say. Apply when plants are actively growing. In my area, that’s last frost in spring until first frost in the fall. They don’t slow down mid summer, but that’s our rainy season.

I always heard to use herbicides in the fall when the plants are taking sap down to the roots, but this link seems to dispute that.

If you never believe anything else I say you should believe me when I tell you I Heard and They Said are two of the biggest liars in the country.

I think that's location specific. As someone pointed out their vegetation grows prolifically during Summer. It does not here. Goes semi dormant to survive hot and dry conditions. For us in Northern Missouri (trying to be specific) spraying is best done in mid Spring.

Those dang honey locust will grow a foot every week between mowings no matter how many times they are mowed , Other saplings will die right away and cedars wont resprout, I only use a squirt of tordon on a stump.
