Hello All!
I've been reading these boards for a while but this is my first post. I bought my first tractor last weekend! I've been shopping for a while and these boards helped me to feel comfortable in what I bought. Thanks!

So, Here's what I got: 1999 Kioti LK3054 with KL120 FEL & a 5' box blade. Then this week I bought a 5' shreader... and here is where I'm not sure if I did the right thing. I have about 5 acres of land. It has a bunch of brush and small trees on it that I want to clear. I know I cant use the shreader on the bigger stuff, but I wanted to have one heavy duty enough to take out the smaller stuff... say up to 1 1/2" - 2" diameter. So I found this heavy duty shreader, but it may be too heavy duty for my tractor. I don't have a brand name for it, but it looks like a WW2 mine sweeper or something. This thing is thick! And heavy! The tractor will lift the shreader about 1' off the ground, and it will turn the blades without a problem... at leaste on the driveway... it's too wet to take it out and try it on the brush right now. My first question is, Is this thing too dang big for my mower and will it cause any damage? Second question, the dang push pin on the PTO shaft is stuck... how do I get it un-stuck?

Even before I got to your question of is the hog too big for the tractor, my first impression was that it is....shorten up your toplink and it may get a tad higher than 1" off the ground. As far as the PTO link, shoot it with PB Blaster or your favorite penetrant and then hit the pin with a hammer. You also may have to use the hammer with a pin/bar to get the thing off the PTO shaft as well. Good luck---by the way, nice lookin' yard....BobG in VA

After posting I took another look....forget the toplink as it is already as short as it will go...you need to take about 3 lengths of chain out of the shredder itself....where it connects to the top of the shredder housing....BobG in VA

Bob's suggestion about using a penetrating oil should do the trick for removing the PTO shaft.
As far as the size of the cutter...I'd wait until you can remove the cutter from the tractor. I'd check to ensure the lower links are lifting as high as they should be.
As far as the size of the unit, I think your tractor will do OK with it. Your Kioti has 30.5 gross engine HP and 24.5 at the PTO, so you have adequate power for a 60" cutter.
You may have to adjust the tail wheel to take higher cuts, or you may have to take partial width passes when going through thick brush. You'll figure this out quick enough the first time you operate the cutter.
I see you have a folding ROPS. Where's the top section? If it didn't come with the machine, you should contact a dealer to see if you can get one. The LK3054 is currently in production, so it shouldn't be difficult getting an upper section.

Thanks for the reply Bob. after I took those pictures, I "shortened" up the side arm connectors a little and got it up a little higher.. right now if I measure the front of the shreader to the ground it's 12" the back is a little higher. I was thinking about cutting the bars the big chains connect to a couple of inches chorter and drill new holes. those chans links are close to 1" diameter...

I've been shooting the PTO pin with PB Blaster for the last couple of days and working it over with a hammer... no luck yet. I might take it to a local shop for help...

the yard is nice and green now.... but the ground is way to soft from the spring rains we've been getting.

Thanks for the reply Roy, I will ahve to contact a dealer about the top ROP bar. The previous owner never got it from the previous, previous owner. I'm waiting for things to dry up a bit more before i give it a good whirl. The fellow I bought it from says he'll take it back if it doesn't work out like I want.

That's a well built cutter. The top to sides is radiused which means stamped. I don't think it's a Land Pride, but I would check some of the higher quality implement (Woods, Rhino, Bush Hog) sites to see if you recognize the design.

You want the mast on it to be straight up and down , it 's tilted way too foward . That thing should cut anything you want to push over . Be careful of the pto shaft , it's missing the all the shields , you may want to replace it them for safety

by bringing the mast more torwards vertical I'll need a shorter top link correct?

can pto shields be bought separately from TSC or somewhere like that?

i've scratched up the black paint quite a bit on the pto shaft and it is indeed yellow under there... haven't checked the deck yet but will this weekend.


as for the pto push pin, I'm still not having much luck getting it to move, but did realize there is a hole going straight through the pto shaft coupling that has a matching hole on the tractor's pto shaft splines. I've stuck a s.s. bolt throught there for now... is that ok or should I avoid doing that?


soundguy, sorry to get you excited over this "not so old" equipment... after spending some time looking at other's pictures on this site I figured what I have was in the "kinda old" catagory... guess it's all relative.

I misread the original post...I think BobG did too...or you made a typo...
Can you lift this cutter 1 inch or one foot?
If you can raise it a foot from the side skirts to the ground...well, that's about all you can expect. The aft end should be an inch or so higher.

BTW, when you push the Yoke pin, you are pushing from the correct side, aren't you? Also, can you post a good picture of the yoke where it attaches to the tractor's PTO?

Tractorsanmore wrote the mast should be vertical. I think he's writing about the section running from the tractor's top link down to the cutter's deck (fowardmost member). It appears to be on a 10° from the vertical in your pictures. I'm not sure if he's correct or if that is adjustble be shortening the chains.

I was looking at the Bush Hog website. That cutter sure looks like a Bush Hog design. The Woods are squared off from the top of the deck to the sides, so it's not a Woods.

Anyway, keep us posted on what you find out.

TSC has replacement pins in a kit.
If you cant get old one lose, cut it out an replace pin and spring and clip

I can lift the mower one foot off the ground measured from the front edge of the skirt.

I'll try to get some more pics of the mower and of the pto coupling up this afternoon.

Here are a couple of pics of the PTO pin. I think the pin needs to come outwards to lock to the PTO. I've banged on it in both directions with no luck yet.

When it's locked, the larger end of the pin is exposed and the clip on the small end will be in contact with the housing. That should be the natural position. Either way, it needs to move freely. You push in (with your thumb) the large end of the pin to slide it onto the tractor shaft and then release it to lock in place. It doesn't look very rusted. Have you heated it at all?

ok.. I had it right at first then talked myself into thinking it needed to go the other direction. I haven't tried heating it but will have to give it a try. Right now I have a ss bolt through the other hole and it holds it onto the tractor's PTO shaft. I had to at leaste give it a spin today...

Yes, it says Servis on the gearbox cover.
So, go to the Servis-Rhinoe web site: CY60 and take a look at their cutters. Note the raised area running laterally (under the gear box) on the top deck.
So, I'd say your cutter is an older Servis-Rhino.
