New Owner, B7800 loader work

I am a proud new owner of a B7800 w/loader. I have a ditch in front of my property that runs parallel with the road. The ditch is 1' - 2' below the road. I would like to remove some of the soft dirt/sand from the ditch. What would be the safest way to do this?
I was thinking about getting the tractor 90 degrees to the ditch and extracting that way. It would be very unsafe to go parallel with the ditch since it has unlevel areas. Thanks again!

That's the way I've done it.

I had to do the same thing and I did going 90 degrees to the ditch and it worked very well and felt safe.

I don't know without seeing it...but...I would think that maybe you could get in there and dig the ditch parallel to the road.

Your loader with a tooth bar might make short work of any uneven areas...

Wait...did you day you have a toothbar?

Anyway...depending on the circumstances...either way will work.

Have fun making things better...working hard on that tractor...naturally...

My neighbor did a similar thing. Only problem is a heavy rain caused erosion which flowed down stream to my ditch. My ditch silted in and grew vegetation and blocks the drainage from his "ditch." So he's now worse off. I considered excavating my ditch but am afraid it will perpetuate the problem...
