Yanmar 140D
Howdy Folks, Just joined the other day, after realizing what an asset this site is. I have a mid-eighties Yanmar 140D. I hope to add some auxilary hydraulics to it soon. Right now its bone stock except for a second worklight I added. The tractor has the optional front pto, turf tires, signals, rops, and work light. Its a US model that had 400 hrs on it when I picked it up four years ago. It now has 502 hrs. I have the operations and maintenance manuals for it. Had to beat the bushes hard to find that material. I'll try to post some photo's of it. Looking forward to learning alot more about this tractor and tractors in general. Jim:)

Glad to have you join us, Jim, and it appears that you keep that little tractor clean and looking new. From the pictures, I'd say you live in some pretty country, too.

Jim,
Welcome to TBN. That is a nice looking tractor. I am not familiar with a 140D, but if it is like the other products that I have seen from Yanmar it is quality. Yours looks almost new!!

I would love a closer pic of how the ROP and the PTO guard are attached if you get a chance.

Again welcome!

Nice looking machine, the manuals should be available from Yanmar, a lot of the parts are still available from Yanmar.

Welcome to the site, yours looks like a slighty newer variation to the old YM135 that I have. I am guess its a twin cylinder diesel, probably 14hp. I just had my diesel rebuilt and i am going thru the steering box now on mine. I am basicly undoing the previous owners lack of maintance issues to the poor thing. I am planning new paint in the spring. Cheers Mike

Mike, yes, its a 14hp 2 cylinder diesel. I bought it from a guy in Honesdale, PA. He used it to pull his Cessna in and out of the hanger. It had a front mounted bolt on hitch when I got it. He did some mowing with it as well. I'm currently trying to rebuild the belly mount mowing deck, though don't really have plans to use it.

Mike, here are a few photo's of the rops mount/pto cover setup. The rops mount wraps around the end of the frame rail as well as the sides and is held is place by some large bolts. Hope this helps.

Thanks Jim for the pics. It looks like this was constructed after-the-fact. Certainly looks sturdy enough. What does it have 2 or 3 bolts on the top, one from the side and then one from the back? 4 times 1/2 inch (???) bolts on each side will take alot.

Thanks again,

Mike
