New Member John Deere 855

Just bought a JD 855 that had been sitting for several years. It is 4wd and has a 70A loader. Just changed the oil. Hydro fluid looks good. Cleaned the air filters.

Problems:

4x4 does not work (shaft turns, but not the frontend, oild drained and no metal found)

hydro forward and reverse pedals hard to push

throttle lever falls down and you have to keep pushing it up

three point hitch lever falls down and have to hold it up

hydro control for loader works for up and down, but tilting the bucket gives me problems, sometimes works, sometimes not (linkage issue?)



Any ideas?

Tighten the throttle lever pivot bolt, there should be a set of friction washers to tighten against it. The pedals on those are stiff to push. I would be worried if you said otherwise. The front drivshaft will turn any time the tractor is moving because it is direct linked to to the shafts and tires. The question is weather it turns with power. Raise up all four tires and test drive with it engaged and disengaged. Then see if the shaft still turns. The linkages on the joystick get kinda screwy at times.

Could also be the same problem for the three point lever moving as the throttle lever.

Check the hydraulic quick connections. They should be fully engaged. Make sure to have the loader buckt on the ground and not residual pressue in the lines (tractor off, wiggle the lever in all directions to relieve pressure). These quick connections are notorious, but an easy fix.
