This is my first tractor, so I am trying to get a handle on a lot of different aspects of it. I checked the transmission oil after a few hours and the stick was dry. I am going to the deal to pick up more oil in the morning to top it off. I took off the loader and backhoe and the wife enjoys mowing with it more

. It is stable on our hill by the road while mowing (I need an easy way to measure the incline), and she says it is doing just fine for her. I need to get more seat time!
I took the backhoe off according to the manual and left it set like a tripod with the stabilizers and bucket. Didn't think too much about it as I had watched similar backhoes removed on YouTube. A few days later I noticed that the main frame had sunk down to the ground. I should probably prop it on something to relive the hydraulic pressure and prevent it from dropping down on the ground. Getting it back on may be interesting.
I bought a grease gun and was doing a run down of all the zerks. Some of them were a bit tight to get the grease nozzle off, but I was able to wiggle it free. On the loader some of the zerks are recessed, and I got the grease nozzle stuck. I think it must be defective as I finally had to use a vise grip pliers and some leverage to get it off. I am going to look for a new nozzle at the farm store. I also spent too much time reading online and trying to understand the different types of grease and if the stuff my local stores carry would cause a problem with what the dealer had used. As far as I can tell the Lucas Oil x-tra heavy duty should be fine for everything.
Anyone use zerk caps on your equipment? Seems like it could be a pain go take them off each time, but it is also a pain to have to clean out dirt with a shop towel.
