I am much safer on my Hydraulic Shuttle tractor than I was on an HST. Too much uncertainty with HST when on the edge of that drop off.

I agree that if he is doing real work that he will need more tractor(s). That is why I suggested early on to get a small used woods tractor and buy a larger cab tractor for the field work. I would expect a much larger long term expenditure closer to $100k than $20k if the OP gets invlolved in working the entire place.

Yeah, I'm at $54K with no cabs.

This is a little more than 20K but not much. While it may not be some peoples first choice, I can certainly imagine using it to tend 200 acres.

ovrszd is profound. You start where you start. This is Doc's "first" tractor. There are really only 25 acres to tend to. A 40hp to 55hp will do just fine. After he gets the bug, he will buy something bigger and something smaller. In the meantime, I wouldn't mind doing everything he wants top do with my 40hp New Holland.

That does seem like a pretty good deal actually. It's definitely the size I'd want for the acreage involved.

Wow. That Kioti you guys mentioned looks like a nice tractor. Bigger than I envisioned for what I was though. But the price and capability is tempting. You all are evil!!!

Just go and sit on that Kioti, and drive it around a little. I'm sure you can resist the temptation. Those of us with 2 and 3 tractors have been able to resist temptation, or we would have 5 or 6 tractors by now - Right ???

As you are looking at tractors like the Kioti, consider also Mahindra. Both are big beefy machines and good value for the money. Both very reliable. I bought my Kioti from Rick Wallace in Lake Ariel, PA just east of Scranton. I know it is a couple hours from your property but I cannot say enough about Rick as a dealer.
