Well this thread is a little late being started but we are just now slowin down a little here at work. Me and my wife got married this past July and this is our first house. We have about six acres out in the coutnry but have decided not to build there just yet. This house will be in a subdivision but will be perfect for our current needs, probably will only be in it for two years. Completion date is scheduled for the end of January...first child due March 17th...these were taken this morning...enjoy!!

The house looks great, we would of course like more pictures.
And the part about only being in it two years, thats what my wife and I said and 22 years later we are now building our house at the farm.

We didn't really start until September, so we are making good progress, me and my wife's dad are contracting everything out (he has experience in it)...so far we are pleased with the results.
I know that the whole moving in two years sounds good on paper but I am not a fan of subdivision life so two years might be all I can take!! Plus with us already having land in the country helps. Time will tell I guess.

How about some details. How many sq ft? Rooms? Any special details like an open kitchen?
From the pictures, it looks like you used plywood for your facia boards. In my area, I get allot of work replacing those due to rot. Once the pait cracks at the seams, the ends of the plywood get wet and begin to rot. Some people paint over it, but the paint will always crack there and it just gets worse. Soffits are OK being plywood, but facia will have issues in time. Of course, if it's standard practice and you are not planing on staying there, then it won't matter.

What cost per sq. foot are you budgeting for? I am just curious to see what it costs to build there and how much you will save by being your own GC.

I can recall building my first house in 2002. It was the best nights sleep ever the first night in the new house!
I like the change on the roof profile between the house and garage, really is something unique!

Shane1581sq/ft, 3 bedroom, 2bath, HUGE laundry room and pantry. The house has a lot of features you don't normally find in a house this size. It is a very open floor plan with great closet space. This is our first house (I am only 25 and she 21). Here in South GA building cost for a quality home is about $75.00 a sq/ft on the high side, selling price usually $125.00-$135.00 a sq/ft. Exterior will be brick and hardy board. I will keep posting pictures when available (insulation and dry wall going up this week). Thanks for all the kind words guys!
