I'll get the filter from the dealer, but what oil other than the cub cadet oil can or should I use in the trans?

Frank

Yep, exactly what Captain Ned said, or try a search (way back) for "Cub Cadet Drive System Fluid Plus". I did a bunch of research on it, but that was 5yrs ago. It was made by Shell and called Shell TTF-SB by them "Tractor Transaxle Fluid - Synthetic Blend". Per it's spec sheet that I got from Shell, it's by no means a special oil. Just a thicker, heavy-duty engine oil. Any decent 15w40 will be easy to source and inexpensive. If you need to run the unit in extreme cold, you can go with synthetic Shell 5w40.

I took the global recommendation to use Shell Rotella 15w-40 (non-synthetic) and have no reason yet to complain.

That's what I do too mephisto.

I have the same GT and am pretty much pleased with it after 180 hours or so. I'm pretty much institutionalized so am comfortable living in the world as it exists.
