Had a brand new 835M delivered this morning. I had been to the dealership and got my paperwork and keys last week. It was delivered today. The dealership left it in the driveway and didn't even knock on the door (I was home and my lab would have gone nuts) after I saw it I went out and started it no problem (all seat belts fastened). Put it into reverse, pushed on the accelerator and nothing. Pushed further still nothing. The accelerator went almost 1/2 way to the floor and RPM were between 1700 and 1800 before it started to move. Exact same for going forward. No movement until between 1700 and 1800 RPM. I drove it around the yard and got to about 15MPH so I know the seat belt speed limiter (9mph) isn't the issue. Called the dealer and he claims that the main clutch doesn't engage till around 1400 RPM so 1700 isn't far off. I can't believe that this is normal (and no, stupid me didn't drive it last week when I went down to do the paperwork). Am I being told correctly that this is "normal"? Anyone else have a similar issue with a brand new Gator? Thanks for any advice.

That sounds normal, and actually better than what i’ve heard regarding the gas ones. The gas engine revs to 7000rpm and prob idles around 1200 rpm, so start moving at 1700 is good.
I just got an 865r(diesel), and it starts moving around the same rpm. I heard that the gas ones started moving at 2500rpm or so.
Kinda the nature of cvt trannies.
After re reading your post, are you saying the speed is limited to 15 mph?

Thanks for the response. No, that was the speed I reached in the yard I was pointing out that the speed limiter (9 mph) wasn't the issue. If seatbelt not fastened speed is limited to 9 mph. After posting I found a 3 year old thread on another forum that discussed that what I was experiencing was normal. Mine idles at around 950 and moves around 1700. This is my first UTV and the thing feels so much like a car that I wasn't ready for it not to be instant throttle response. I drove it for an hour and am used to it now. I'd felt a lot better about it if my dealer hadn't just dropped it and "run". Thanks again.
