It runs really well. The engine compression is down a little, but I don't notice, since I'm not using it for hard work.

I ran a D-15 and D-17 for a lot of years as a kid. That D-14 brings back a lot of memories. I still prefer my JD CUT with cab.:laughing:

MY blood was Persian Orange as a kid. My father had a CA and a WD45. I always tried to get him to buy a D17 but he never did. The D14 had 30 hp verse the CA had 23.

I wish my grandpa had given me a D14.

That brings back some fond memories for me also. When I was a kid, a D-14 was our main tractor. My grandpa rarely let me run that one, most of my time was on the John Deere M. He would mow the hay with a 7 ft sickle-bar on the AC , and I would follow along with a crimper behind the JD. Nowdays one tractor and one machine handles both of them jobs. We also used to draw the hay in loose, loading it on the wagon with a hay-loader. It was nice not to have to deal with those heavy bales which came along later taking most of the fun out of the haying job.

Nice looking D14. I have had mine almost 15 years. I restored it in 96, overhauled the engine, painted it, converted to 12volt neg ground. In 97 a transmission seal made out of leater finally gave out so I had to split it in half to replace it.

It has been a great tractor ever since for plowing snow, bush hogging, parades and even a few 100plus mile tractor caravans.
