I freely admit to not being the most electrical-savy guy, however, I cannot for the life of me think of what you would need a "DC socket" for on a tractor. The new BX series is advertising this new feature. Can anyone enlighten me ? Thx

Basically it's what used to be called a cigarette lighter socket. What can you use it for? Lets see, hook up your portable curling iron, recharge your cell phone, CB radio power, hot coffee mug, heated vest, pants and jacket ( like you would wear on a motorcycle- they come in useful during the winter), recharge your iPod, powered cooler, 12v to 120v inverter, 12v auto heater, 12v travel grille, 12v coffee maker, etc.

You could use it to power a sprayer, aux. lights etc.

DC socket could power the handheld GPS. With a WAAS model you might have enough accuracy to see where in the field you've already sprayed the weedkiller so you don't hit it a second time.

The times they are a changin'

I like the changes in the BX models. I makes me take another look at the BX line!

Thanks for the education.....I did not realize that this was a cigarette lighter

I installed a cigarette lighter outlet on my old B7100. I use it to power a small 12v compressor which I have rigged to maintain pressure in an old residential pressure tank. This is a high pressure/low volume tire inflator, but it works well in this application. I fill the tank from the tap, running it to about 60 psi and around 40 gallons of water. I have a tire valve rigged to allow either my big compressor or the 12v one to be connected. This is mounted on a carry-all on the 3 pt. I then can take the thing anywhere I need to do some point irrigating of specific plantings. The only thing limiting its usefulness is your imagine and ability to ag-engineer what you need.

Probably in March or April of 2006, similar to when they updated their site with their new models last year.

Some folks (not me) might even use it as a cigarette lighter recepticle. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

12v CD
I'd like to have it for a spot light from time to time.
