Need utility Side by Side

I'll need to find a sensible trailer for hauling it. My 20' car hauler is a little overkill. Thinking of a small and light enough trailer so it can be used behind the SxS too.

We tow a 14ft trailer to move debris with.

A 2025 Yamaha Viking EPS followed me home today. I brought the wife and she was attracted to the Ranch edition, but we ultimately stuck with the green base model and we'll buy some aftermarket upgrades with the savings.

I once again kicked the tires of the various Kawasaki's and Can Am's, but for whatever reason, the Yamaha just called me. The Viking is certainly no-frills as far as many of the UTV's go, but the simplicity is actually what I like about it. I'm surprised at how smooth the ride is and the seating position just suits me the best.

We had some storms rolling in, so no time for photo's. I'll take some tomorrow when I play with it some more.
I think it will make for a great machine for you. I don't know much about the Yamaha SxS but the Yamaha 700 ATV is a beast of a machine and super reliable.

Hello all,

So, I really could use a utility side by side for around my 8 acres. Mainly for fence repair, general maintenance, irrigation repairs and target setting out to my 200 yard range. And of course some trail riding while camping. I am looking at five different machines. Most are three seaters. No need for a six seater. Here they are not listed in any particular order;

1 CFMoto UForce U10 Pro
2 Kawasaki Ridge/Ranch Edition
3 Polaris Range 1000
4 Honda Pioneer 1000-5
5 Can Am Defender X MR

I know there are others on the market. I was really interested in a Massimo T-Boss 1000, but they are not available in Kalifornia. My main focus here is ease of service, riding comfort and durability. So, if you happen to have one of these machines, can you kindly chime in as to what you do and don't like about it. I have ridden in a Honda Pioneer before and it was a great machine. I kicked the tires on a Kawasaki Ridge and it looks like a great machine, but getting to the air filter looks like a pain in the rear. I have yet to sit in any of the other three. Mainly because there are none on dealer floors in the Stockton area. I really want to look at the CFMoto. A Tracy dealer is expecting some in early May.

Ok, thanks guys/gals. B.
Whatever you choose, I respectfully suggest that a buyer knows how to decipher the DOM plate.

"New" could mean a two to three years old piece of equipment....sitting on the lot.

I own a couple CF Moto's and love them. And an RTV-X1100C.
But now that my RTV has the K-Connect installed it has become my dedicated property work machine. So I was going to trade my CF Moto Z-Force in for a new U10 Highland Pro so I can have another air conditioned machine to trail ride in.
But a couple weeks ago, I had a friend visit for a week of atv riding and he has one of those new Can Am Defender Limited's.

I really liked it! And it was only a small bit more than the price of a CF U10 Highland Pro. That really surprised me.
Granted, he had to add the signal lights and stereo, and it doesn't have some of the other standard features the CF has. But I sure loved the Can Am's vee twin. It is super quiet in the cab! You can easily listen to the radio at low volume levels.
And I really like the Can Am's dash and under seat storage boxes that have handles and you can take them out and carry them around.

My riding buddies that have tried my Can-am have told me that my Can-am is much quieter inside than their machines (Yamaha Wolverine and Honda 700). AND cleaner - dust free - after riding through silt beds.

To me, because I often ride alone in really remote places, dependability is paramount. In 5 years and almost 5000 miles now the only problem I've had with the Can-am is a fuel gauge sender which was changed out under warranty but that of course wouldn't strand the machine.

I worked with three machines in a XC system for 20 years and each machine got around 300 hours per season. When we had a machine breakdown in the field, we basically lost 8 hours of trail work, that is keeping the ski trails up. Having a tow machine break bit!

I don't live where it snows very much, and I'll probably never see anything with tracks on it like those in the picture. I think it's interesting that they have those green skids under the tracks of the one being towed.

Its about friction. Its like towing your atv or truck out of mud, that is it takes more power than the weight of the machine to get it out. In this case, attaching kid sleds to the pods creates less friction than trying to spin the tracks.
