Need some LS specs

At that time it appeared fixed and worked for 3 hrs before repeating problem 3 weeks ago. What they thought was problem and fix (bad relay) turned out was not the problem and since then have part by part r&red everything that supposedly has anything to do with the PTO and still no fix. I'm thinking there is a wire or wiring harness somewhere they are overlooking because of a lack of system knowledge.

I purchased a new LS 5020c in Dec 2011. As of today it has a total of 68 hrs on it and is presently sitting at the dealership in Tyler, Tx awaiting repair. The PTO did not work from the first day and has been worked off and on every since then. They have replaced every part, wire, switch, relay and anything associated with the PTO and it still does the same thing. When you engage the PTO in manual or auto the yellow PTO engaged light on the dash comes on and then goes off after 3 seconds and the transmission pressure light comes on, but the pressure is ok. The field rep from the factory in NC has even came down and worked on it. Every once in a while the pto will engage and run until turned off and then will not engage again when turned on. Practically all 68 hrs on the tractor have been trouble shooting the problem or hooking up and unhooking a mower to it for testing or loading and unloading the tractor for transport to the repair shop. The dealer or factory does not have a clue! Leading Solution refuses to return my money and take the tractor back and says they will eventually fix it per the warranty. I paid $26,000.00 cash 6 months ago and have not been able to use the tractor except for some small work with the FEL. I do not recommend LS tractor especially a U5020

To be accurate... is LS the company the problem or is it the LS dealer? It's usually the dealer that balks at doing the right thing.

The wife and I took a ride over to the local LS dealer Sunday again just so I could sit on and look over a 4047 with no one hovering over me. I like it. Other than needing to add 4" spacers under the seat it fits me well. Not much that I can find to dislike including the price. Best of my memory the 4047 is physically a little bigger than the 4041.

Back to the PTO issue... I have a Montana tractor which is a rebadged LS and I've been studying the PTO system trying to figure how it works so I can adjust how hard it engages. The 5020 should work the same as the Montana does. There is a clutch switch, a dash switch, wiring that goes to a solenoid on a hydraulic valve assembly that engages the PTO. Pretty simple. They say they have replaced every part but I would question that. I would bet they are not wanting to try a $400 solenoid. And do they have it adjusted correctly? It does sound like an electrical issue but then again maybe something floating around in that valve. Just some thoughts off the top of my head.

Have you tried to contact LS direct? Go to there web site to contact us and email them, tell them the exact problem tell them you want the tractor replaced, or a loner while layed up it's been way to long and maybe just maybe a nudge in the right spot just might get there attention. You never know trying is free!

Did that back in May and even sent LS a certified letter asking for a refund or replacement. No answer as of yet, only that they would fix the tractor per the warranty. Going by the dealer today to see what is up. They have had a week to try the last fix, which is to replace the entire wiring harness.

Actually, the 4041 and 4047 are built on the same platform. They are exactly the same tractor with 2 exceptions.
1) the 4047 comes with bigger tires
2) The 4047 and 4041 share the same motor but the 4047 has injectors turned up to increase HP to 47.

I am amazed. I went by the dealer today to check on the progress of a fix on theU5020c. They told me the factory thought they had found the problem and had overnight shipped parts for a fix. I called LS USA and the tech rep said that while being built some hydraulic tubing was not properly cleaned and had some filings inside of it and these filings were causing a valve in the hydraulic valve assembly to stick and preventing the PTO from engaging. He said the fix was to install a new hydraulic valve assembly with a in-line filter strainer on the inlet line to keep the filings from hanging up the valve assembly. I asked him what about the bad tubing and the filings that were supposedly flaking off to which he replied the filter strainer would catch them. I then asked him how often the filter needed to be changed or cleaned and he said never. I am now waiting for the dealer to finish this last stab in the dark fix. I do believe the problem lies in the hydraulic valve assembly, but what is causing it is not filings and the fix is only a band-aid.
