The last few times I have used my tractor, 1610D, it would have spells that
it didn't want to rev up when I gave it fuel. If I had the idle set on 1000 rpm for example and kick the clutch in it would fall well below that idle and when I open the throttle the engine takes a second or two to turn back up and then shortly after it seems to run just fine. I am not getting any smoke from it. Has anyone had this problem or might have an idea what the problem could be? It does not do it everytime I use it.
Thanks for your help. This is a great forum.

Have you checked/replaced all of your filters lately? Does it ever seem like it wants to run too fast or just always too slow?

Thanks for your reply Aaron. I have just changed the fuel filter and recently the air filter as well. The engine never wants to run too fast, just slowing down and acting like it does not want to take the fuel. Do you think it could be condensation in the fuel tank. I have drained some fuel out but didn't see any water.

It is hard to diagnose intermittent problems like that. I would just be sure that you have a steady stream of fuel going into the injection pump. Other than that, if it does not do it very often, you may need to just wait & see if it gets worse so you can locate the problem.
