need help finding an owners manual

got my 2001 JD 4200 yesterday (used) and i have no owners manual. contacted Deere and was told it would be $60.00 in print form or on cd. is there anywhere else i could find one of these because $60 is just crazy for a cd or book. i know on some of my vehicles i have been able to find full factory service manuals online for free.

Ebay is always my first place to check - after that I compare it to prices I get on Amazon - Check em out - Amazon sells quite a bunch of used stuff too.

There's none on Ebay right now, but keep checking. There is a cab for one on there though /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Coryip, I have searched and searched, and I can find models all around yours, but not yours. I did find a service/shop manual, but it's $109.00 plus shipping! I'll keep my eyes open and also check with a dealer friend to see if I can find you a cheaper one. John

I downloaded the manual for my 4400 before Deere took them offline. You would need WinZip to unzip the file as it's still about 3.5 megs as a zip file. It says right at the top it's for 4200, 4300, 4400 tractors. If you want me to email it to you, drop me a note at hoss@kansascas.com .

There might have also been a I&T shop manual available for it.

As for those JD manuals via mail or CD.. Feel fortunate at 60$. i ordered the print version for my JD B.. and it was 90 postage paid... however.. I got a 1.25 inch thick book printed on demand, with a nice vinyl cover... excelent looking ( and costing /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif book.. )
