Need engine help with a TG1860G

I had recently purchased a TG1860G garden tractor that has a problem (got it really cheap). Every so often it would stall. It has an 18 hp liquid cooled Kawasaki engine with the hour meter reading 187 hrs.

I cleaned the gas tank out and installed new fuel line & filter. It is not the fuel cutoff selonoid since it has power to it when and after it stalls (therefore not a safety switch problem). Sometimes it will run for a while and sometimes for only a minute tops. The fuel pump is weeping a little bit of fuel from a weep hole in it, I assume this means the diafram is cracked and I need a new fuel pump?

One other thing is there is a vacuum line coming off of the top of the carb. It is a clear small tube, where is this suppose to go? The other end got melted by the muffler and I cannot find where it goes.

Any help is appreciated.

i would suggest you take it to the local Kubota dealer - there are several service bullrtins that deal with all the Kawasaki engine issues.

In your case, it may be that the fuel line need to be rerouted and a heat shield installed so it does not vapor lock again - this is common with the standaard fuel routing.

I was just hoping someone on here has one of the garden tractors and could take a quick look for me to see where this vacuum line goes.

The engine is not vapor locking, sometimes it doesn't even run long enough to get warm (20 sec max). I know it is a fuel problem, when the engine goes to die out I can keep it running with starter fluid. When I get time I guess I will dig a little deeper, I was just hoping for a quick fix.

I have always done all the work on all the vehicles and tractors that I own, I don't like paying someone else $100/hr for work that I can do.

Did you ever find the problem? I just purchased a TG1860G and i seem to have the same problem. It will run for 30min or so and then all of the sudden it boggs down and dies. I can choke it and it will try to stay running but one for a few seconds. I can let it sit for 15min or so and i have to choke it to crank it. Once its running again i get 10min or so before it happens again. Definetly fuel related. I have no leaks that i find. There is fuel in the filter just before the pump.
