If they don't come out w/ a simple twisting motion.. you'll hafta rent the tool from Hoye..
They are the ones where the line{male threads} screws into the side of the injector body{female threads}.??
Turn them to the RIGHT, Clockwise.. otherwise u stand a chance of unscrewing the top of the body, leaving the nozzle nut in the head.
I JUST threw out the packing box my tool from Hoye came in.!!{******} otherwise I would ship it to you..
They rent it for 10.00 for 10 days.. but u have to pay shipping.$$.
The way I figured it, it was {almost}cheaper to buy it, rather than pay the shipping back & forth.. I think it worked out to something like 20-25.00 more to actually BUY it.
Its a BIG slide hammer w/ a special adaptor to screw into the nozzle nut after u have unscrewed the body{top}
BE CAREFUL NOT TO CRUSH THE THREADED PORTION of the body when attempting to turn it.!!!
ITS VERY SOFT METAL.. if u do, theres little chance of fixing it..
I actually took the line OFF THE PUMP & screwed it into the body for support.. & still ended-up HAVING TO BUY the tool..
IT WAS S. T. U. C. K. !! Don't forget to buy the fiber washers that go beneath the injector also..
The best of luck to you..

Thanks for posting that real world experience with the injector puller. It looks like there's going to be a need for one in my future with this YM165d.
When I closed down my mechanical business I kept twenty or thirty favorite pullers, but we did tranny & running gear mostly & never did have an injector puller.

I ended up buying one from Hoye a few years ago before I removed the injectors in my 2201d. I waited for the puller to come before I started working on it and when I went to go pull the injectors they came out just by pulling on them with my fingers! Go figure, but maybe the purchase warded off the evil spirits. So anyways I have a new puller sitting in my tool box. But glad I had it just in case.

I should probably tag this as 'Humor' :) - but here's my story using materials on hand to cobble up an injector puller.

https://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/yanmar/171020-injector-removal-tool-cheapskate-version.html

They were stuck so hard I couldn't rotate them with jumbo slip-joint pliers. They were an extremely hard pull all the way out.

One tip: when re-installing, coat the sides with anti-seize so they will come out next time.

One of the photos in that post.

That's some good "out of the box" thinkin right there.!!
I even tried using a bolt, threaded into the return hole on top & using a puller THAT WAY.. no luck..
Mine was VERY STUCK & thought I was going to strip the nut w/ the Hoye tool.. but it finally came out.

I did find it easier to remove the studs, for more wiggle room when your twisting it.. HEED MY WARNING about crushing the inlet on the injector.!!!
The thing about that tool from Hoye is, its so simple.. but at the cost they're selling them for, YOU COULDNT get one made at the machine shop for that price.{?}

IDK if u can see the nozzle from the other side of the head but I think u can..
I've had Yanmar Marine heads that I've "beaten" the nozzles out before..
The tip/nozzel is naturally not going to be any good afterwards but that's not a big deal.. the model # is stamped on it..
THEN u have to cross the mdl.# to a part #..
OR BUY THE FRIGGIN TOOL..

Why not just buy the friggin tool from hoyetractor.com? It's a good tool, everyone uses it.

Maybe he doesn't want to spend the money? Not sure how much a nozzel is if it's destroyed though? I probably would buy the tool myself.

its complicated... i just spent way too much money with them the other day and i was expecting the machine shop would be able to handle it. now time is a factor because i want the machine shop to get the head back so they can fix it and i can put it back together. the nozzles are fine.

Did you beat them out?

I personally would be nervous beating around precision machined surfaces and something one slip of the hammer I could ruin something.

i soaked them in acid from the top and bottom to break up as much rust as possible. then with WD-40 I beat them out using a socket as a driver. the prechambers are pretty stout pieces. it looks like i was not the first to do this on this motor.

Theres nothing wrong in doing it that way.. not ideal but..
Just be sure to replace ALL the gaskets in the pre-chamber... otherwise you'll get a combustion leak around the injector..
The gaskets are about 1.00 apiece so don't scrimp out..
Just go to the Hoye tractor site & buy them.. or theres Fredicks..
I haven't spent much time on the Fredricks site but the Hoye site is EASILY navigated.. & u wont have any problems in finding the parts u need.
U went to all this trouble getting the injectors out.. what do u plan to do w/ them.??
