I won a bid on a military M101 trailer for my next project. It is a 1965 model with surface rust but overall good condition even the tires are good condition. This model did not have surge or electric brakes as far as I can tell. The tires are in good shape and the hand brakes work fine, the dumping action works as it should. When I was in the Army this model trailer was pulled by the Chevy 5/4 trucks and the Chevy Blazer, and once in a while by a deuce in a 1/2. We used the trailer to carry tents, generators, personal gear, ammo, and ect. I am gonna use it to move dirt around the farm from our summer pond digging project.

Good looking trailer!

I could have had one a few years ago, same model, I should have grabbed it.
He wanted 650$ for the one I looked at.

I have the Canadian version of the M101. It is the M101CDN2, built by DEW Industries in Ottawa, ON. Mine does not dump, but it is still a good trailer and a compliment to my Jeep TJ. (Wrangler)

Woodlandfarms I paid $200 for the trailer. Some of the others went for $270. I have less than $400 in it including travel and meals. I bough it from GL govliq.com.

Looking4new mine is a Gar Wood Industries, Inc, M101A1, 3/4 ton, 2 wheel Cargo Trailer.

Have you checked out the spring packs on those trailers?
I put a 1/2 ton in mine (rated for 1/4 ton) and the springs didn't flatten out at all.
I also changed out the 16" rims for 15" so it would pull level behind my Jeep.

Mine has 5 lugs on the wheels and 10.00 16 tires on old style split rims if I remember right. How did you change your wheels out. The newer trailers have 8 lug Chevy which would be great for me.

I took off the Audi (so they tell me) rims and put rims from a '84 Lincoln Continental MK7 on they bolted right on. both the Army and Lincoln rims are 5 lug rims.
I still have the original rims and sand tires (50% tread) for it.
I also ran my 12 volt electrics right along side of the original 24 Volt.

Be extra careful or better still when you air up those tires, take two chains and wrap them around the tires and rims in two places (preferably oposite each other) and hook them onto themselves loosely. Do NOT get any body parts near the rims when airing them up. The old split rims have been known to kill people at the worst. At their best failure rate they will only take your arm off.

Unfortunately, I don't have a passport, nor the finances to (a) buy the trailer and (b) get it shipped up here from Georgia.
I will wait until next summer and talk to my guy that goes to the Canadian DND sales. Maybe he can get me one. DND= Department of National Defense

How wide is the trailer? I know the old US trailers are nine feet wide and you can not pull them on the road with out an oversize permit. 8 1/2 feet is all that is allowed.

This trailer is 71 from outside to outside of the tire. My unit would have been pulled this mostly by Chevy 5/4 truck or a maybe a 2 1/2.

Budepps just go govliq.com and sign up with with a user name and password. Then if you bid you need to give a credit card thats it.

Mine was made for the Ilitis jeep. It looks good behind my TJ.
A pic and specs.

The guy I bought mine off had 8 of them. I checked them all over and took the one I got because it was in the best shape (no damage) and it was used by the meatheads and we all know how much they like to work.
