I think the first thing to do is get him to move one scoopful to a nearby location, and get him to do it several times. Maybe some sort of applause or reward for a small pile. That should show him that actually he CAN DO IT just one small piece at the time. After that, turn him loose and let him play.
Put a dollar in a fund with each scoopfull and by the time he gets it moved, you will have enough to pay for his new tractor.

Great picture! when his legs are long enough, get him an 8N Ford to pull your wagons/trailers around with....then when he's really old enough to work with you, get him a Farmall!! From the looks of your outfit there, I'd say about an 806 to start...(grin) BobG in VA

I saw a tractor pull this afternoon at the fair in Acton, ME. It was with a John Deere peddle tractor. The kids were pulling a sled with some bricks.

It was wild, and the kids had a great time.

I got my boy the same one last Christmas. He was not happy because of the way the bucket is spring loaded. He couldn't go into a pile of stone so he decided to load the bucket with his shovel. After the first couple scoops the spring couldn't keep tension and dumped his hard work on the ground. He then proceeds to take it out on the basketball court and tried to slide it around like he does his four wheeler, but with it being a seat instead of one you straddle he couldn't move his weight around enough.
