My solution to the ROPS pin

I was thinking the same thing. Especaily using off the shelf, chinese pins. It's probably unlikely to be an issue, just an aspect of this to be aware of.

I once saw our VW dune buggy we had bought from a guy working out of his garage with a Buzz-Box, roll, and practically every weld failed on the roll cage. Not nice thinking you have protection when you don't. We thought the driver and passenger were dead, with the thing lying upside down on top of them, but one guy just got a concussion.

I've got ROPS tracks on my limestone lintel.

Hope you report back, whether it works as shown or how you tweeked it. It would really be a freak accident if you ever rolled it AND it sheared the 9/16 diameter when it wouldn't have it were full diameter. I was going to do it Not2old's way but the impactor battery would probably be dead when I needed it.

If the hole for the retention pin is in the right place, the full 5/8" diameter of the pin will be all the way through the ROPS frame work. The 5/8" to 9/16" shoulder will be held close to the inside of the nut.

No, if all works as designed it will be the full 5/8" diameter going thru the ROPS channel. The 9/16 will go in as far as the welded nut on the outside of the channel:

the keeper pin hole in the new hitch pin should be pretty close to keeping the 5/8 snug to the threads

Good point. And he can always add a washer out there if it's loose.

The pin from India is likely a grade 5 while the factory threaded pit is likely in excess of grade 8. Any concern that the weaker grade 5 pin would fail in a rollover?
I just leave my ROPS down since I'm on flat ground.

The following is for a grade 5 5/8" bolt. One would think a solid 5/8 rod would be stronger (this rating is 60% of max strength)

I did a similar thing with the pins for the lower lift arms on my snowblower. The original pins required bushings for both diameter and width which was just something else to lose and a pain to get in place so I made a step pin that was full size all the way through except through the last flange where it stepped down. Then the click pin held it in place. The only bushing required was to reduce side slop of the lift arm between the two flanges.

Your idea should work good but I would get rid of the hair pin clip, instead get a click pin which should be easier to get in and out.

A question for you, apparently your tractor has cat 2 lift arms,
why do you not use the outer spacing on your hitch which appears to be cat 2,
while the inner spacing was cat 1.

To use the cat 2 slots I would have to move the rear tires out with spacers which I don稚 want to do.

Interesting that they would put a cat 2 on a tractor that couldn't fit it.
I'm going to assume that you must have the one piece wheels on yours.
