Guys, Friday I had to switch to the forks in a hurry, and they are always a bit tight. When they arrived years ago, I had to grind out the hole on one side just to fit.

Well they were on but I could not get the latch to latch locked, so I stomped on it...

Well now I cannot get it to release, the lever simply will not come out of the locked position...

Any suggestions???

First thing, spray penetrating oil on every pivot... They look dry to me. Then take a hammer and smack upward on both pins holding the attachment on.

Disconnect the two connecting pins from the arms.
(The arms often push the pins unevenly.)

Lube pins well. Kroil or another light oil is good.

Hit the bottom of the pins with a nylon mallet, if you can access.

If not, use a brass drift to access the bottom of the pins, then hit drift with a mallet.

This,
my ssqa looks just like that one. After I use it especially if I'm working it hard with the bucket or forks,
when I'm ready I take my 3 pound hammer and give the bottom of each pin a good rap, and lube the pins and springs she
will work as slick as can be then.

Mine does that sometimes, too. Less often if I grease the sleeves that the engagement pins ride in. For now, though, the penetrating oil/hammer treatment sounds like your best bet. Just remember to block the thing up if you need to get under it. Curl the bucket back to help get weight off the pins.

If grease, lube, good rap, cheater don't work try getting a jack between the handle and that crossbar and spreading it apart while heating the "frozen" points with a propane torch. Careful of bending things.

I hit mine with fluid film a couple times a year.

I saw this post in my email, sprayed a ton of WD-40, waited 3 minutes and clickety-clack it popped open like a charm. I had been wondering how to lube this area.

THANK YOU!!!

Be well,
David

Mine ATI and OEM Kubota, have grease fittings on the circular weldment the lock pins are in and on the pivot handles. Never had an issue, I keep them greased. I second a cheater pipe if stuck. Better than hammering on the handles.
