funny how different areas use equipment. Out here, most run Dodge or Ford,, Not many GM amythings. I like my DOdge 3500. All I need now is a much longer trailer than I have, With the new hog mower, I can't get tractor and mower loaded,, Just too long and can't fold up the loading ramps... Some day, I may be able to move up into Dougster's class

Well, as you know from another thread, despite the 20-ft length, the Dougster's 10K equipment trailer may be a bit under-rated now (legally speaking) despite the recent addition of 12,000 lb (total) rated rims and 14,000 lb (total) rated tires. The two axles are still 5,200 lb rated axles and the trailer manufacturer's sticker still says 10,000 lbs max!

20-ft is cool, but not if the sticker says that now... after a few recent acquisitions... that I am marginally illegal.

Yes, if all goes according to plan and I am able to have the Red Beast maneuver the 20-ft equipment trailer out of my driveway past the 20-yard pile of loam (dumped by the town in the street)... I will get up to New Hampshire today to pickup the tiller and get the shaft as well. On sale, the entire 72" KK tiller with drive cost $1,299.00. No sales tax in New Hampshire either!

BTW, I noted yesterday that this pile of loam they dumped right in my trailer's "flight path" is the very last one on the whole street. Originally, there were 7 or 8. Now there is just one left... untouched and just sitting there throughout the Labor Day weekend and probably longer. Guess whose driveway they chose to block??? Oh yeah, the trouble-making guy with the two trailers!!! Who else???

No clue on why the Bradco thumb cylinder is taking so dang long. Bob Wolff was supposed to call or email back with an explanation last week, but never did. I am not a happy camper since I could drive to the local Bradco distributor in 75 minutes and get one myself... 'cept the distributor does not do retail business. Now it is 4 weeks and Labor Day is here. Guess I should have ordered the Prince alternative cylinder right away after all. I'd have had it by now and saved half the cost. Just the "luck" of the poor old Dougster.

Don't blame you for wanting to do the hydraulic thumb and grapple right, even at a much higher initial cost. It makes sense for the 6520 and you already have a supplier you trust. My "reach back over the fuel tank and work the remote lever" approach is perfectly easy & workable on the 4110... but I would never recommend it for models I hadn't personally tried.

Wow, I thought those tillers cost way more than that!! Just tell them it is for Ag use. My TSC has me on file for sales tax exempt. I won't do business with Home Depot, because they want a tax number for my barn supplies. Lowe's gives me tax exempt, if I remember to tell them.

I would push that loam right into the middle of the street...and down the street.........maybe even into a storm drain.

After reading Eddie's threads on the Projects forum on "Creating a Lake", I have tried to get all the roots out of dirt when filling in holes of stumps I have dug out. As a decomposing root could cause a leak in the dam. It is a real pain when it is muddy, getting the small roots by hand. I have prefected moving them out of the way with the bucket, but that takes too long. The hyd. thumb would speed this operation up emensely. So I will contact Ike at ABC Groff on Tuesday. By the way, I have never done business with them. They are a new vendor for me.

No it is NOT a Chevette. That would be a huge step UP in prestige from where I am right now.

While I love the look of the Dodge Ram... and even tried to buy or lease a beautiful Dodge Ram 1500 quad cab in my previous life... my GF's brother talked me out of buying a Ram 2500 for the business. He had huge transmission problems with his right after the warranty expired and never quite forgave Dodge for that monster expense. I was also influenced to go GM by my daughter's BF's family who had long been in the snowplowing business. Their recommendation for plowing was GM all the way.

But in the end, it was ride and economics that governed. Of all the 3/4-ton pick-ups I drove, the 2006 Chevy 2500HD rode best (actually, least worse) and cost the least to buy. At the time, a brand new diesel of any brand was entirely too expensive and out of the question. I shopped for used, but really didn't have much luck.

I only know of one guy that has one of those GMs, and it is a GMC with a diesel and an Allison transmission. Does yours have the Allison transmission? That new Cummins Dodge pickup sure has my heart beating. It will pull 16,000 pounds. That would make me legal trailering The Big Red Beast. Then I look at the sticker and my heart stops.

Looks like i'm a day late catching up here. Dougster, did you get your tiller? I was in Manch all day yesterday, and thought about taking a ride down to TSC just to browse. Heck.... since you are so dirt poor, i'd have gladly offered to cross the street and pick up coffee for us both (and a plain munchkin for my buddy). One thing we Do have over Texas...... Dunkin Donuts ! Hope you weren't upset that i vandalized your tiller while it was sitting there.

No tax exemption here. I just don't qualify. My current "farm" is neither commercial nor big enough in size to qualify. And tillers of that size usually cost a lot more than that. I was quoted close to $4,000 for a couple of the "prestige" brands. Even for a "KK"... $1,300.00 is dang cheap! Regular TSC price is $1,600.00. One dealer in MA wants $2,000.00 for the same exact model with just a bit more fading and rust.

You need to understand that this is a battle of wits with the town DPW. I made trouble for them by pointing out that the road was being reconstructed improperly... so they are making big trouble for me every chance they get. Remember the "almost arrested for fixing the curb" incident? They would LOVE for me to go out there and "move" that pile. I'd be under arrest for real this time... in 10 minutes or less.

No diesel and no Allison transmission. You know how poor I am. I'm lucky I've got any pick-up truck at all.

But let me get this straight! Are you currently legal pulling the Big Red Beast around? Or not? Given that you've pretty much gone "deluxe" on everything including that nifty red gooseneck trailer, I'd assumed that you were meeting any and all rules! No???

Nope... didn't get up there yesterday. Not only was my equipment trailer still effectively blocked in by the town's one remaining monster loam pile left in the middle of the street... but suddenly I am having some sort of tire or suspension problem with the truck. Dang thing is vibrating on the road like an out-of-control bucking bronco. Need to check it out quickly but leaving town today to visit the old folks. Maybe I'll have some answers by mid-day tomorrow.

You can afford Dunkin Donuts??? My Gawd man... that's a treat I haven't had in ages. Must be nice to have an income.

Me too! I was there yesterday. I have to go back and pick up one of those 10'x10'x6' kennels. I actually thought it would fit in the Explorer . I have no idea what I was thinking but, you'd think the dimensions would have been a big clue.
