My new L4600

   / My new L4600 #31
I did not know that Kubota had a plant in Thailand. I would not be afraid of one because it should still be Kubtota quality and has to pass quality control. Kubota is still the one manufacturing the tractor and Kubota should back it up. The major components (engine, trans/hyrdo) are probably made in Japan and sent to Thailand.

Because I bought one. I bought and paid for one to arrive in 6 weeks to my dealer's place. I went thru the whole tractor and including WSM ( Work Shop Manual)and no where there was a mention of it. It never dawned on me that it might have been manufactured anywhere but Japan. I wanted to check out the Loader piping and one Saturday I stopped by to take a few pics that I noticed it. Asked the dealer and he said, "I was mistaken" and if "I were sure", told him, why not we go out and see the tag on the Chassis. I told him to check out with the factory to see if they also manufacture the same model in Japan. He phoned me later on that and what he learned was that is "assembled with Japanese part in Thailand". I found some articles later on that Kubota is working on a new line to be manufactured more competitively same as others. Originally, I narrowed down my choices to L4600DT or MX4700DT with a very minor price difference. The l4600 was not even ordered when I found the anomaly, so I told him the deal is off unless it is MX4700DT. He complied and ordered me a MX4700 to be delivered soon. He was blind sided also as he had no clue. On the 30 tractors in his yard L4600 was the only one "Thailand assembled".

JC,
Thanks for the info. I've heard very good reports on the new L4600 and although I'd rather have made in Japan, I probably would not let the assembled in Thailand stop me. But a MX4700 for the same price is a no-brainer.

Got my new L4600HST delivered a couple of weeks ago. Went out in the field and rotary mowed some very tall grass and dead sand hill plum bushes. The L4600 with a Land Pride RC18 72" mower did a very good job. I mowed about 3.5 acres in 1 1/2 hours. So far I am very impressed with the L4600. Fit and finish is great and the HST is flawless. I considered a Mahindra, but the attitude of our local Mahindra salesman was awful so I went to the Kubota dealer and got a much better deal than expected.

I will be ordering my new L4600HST within the next few days. Did you buy the Land pride RC18 as a package deal? Just wondering if that is the way to go. One dealer is quoting me a price of $22,500 w/o tax, with the quick attach bucket. Does that sound reasonable??

Momma wrote the check, she said this is for all the anniversary presents I never bought you and all I will not going to buy you from now till you croak... so buy what you want. She even went as far as a cab tractor.. fancy that!! The only reason I have not bought the L4600 was that they had two on the lot , one HST and one Gear. The gear one had ag tire and the HST had R4. I wanted gear and R4. They could have swapped the tires but one condition I had on the purchase was to get it brand new on the crate , be there when they undo it , take enough pic of the new naked tractor for future reference without loader and others stuff gets put in. I went there at least 3 times and rode both tractors in excess of couple of 3 hrs, HST was excellent, shuttle shift on the gear worked like butta and really could not find any issues with it. No issues with fit and finish. I'm sure you will be just fine. Good luck on your purchase.

JC,

contrast between the two rigs.
- partially synch 3rd to 4th gear on MX-4700 which is great.
-heavier rear end on 4700 but front axle appears to be the same.
-148 vs 134 cc engine displacement.
-heavier loader, thicker sub mount, 4 bar linkage, heavier cross beam on loader arm.
-All metal instrument cowling on 4700 rather than orange plastic on L4600.
-about 300 lbs heavier on 4700.
-both class I and II hitch on 4700 if needed.

Wow, that is a great price. Are you sure that price includes the loader?
My tractor has 4 wheel drive, HST, loader with quick attach 72" bucket and 1 rear hyd. port set and listed for just over $30,000. Cash price was $26,000. I traded a 2001 Agco ST30 HST with Agco 5' mower and paid $19,000 difference. The Landpride RC 18 72" mower cost me $2100 extra. I thought I got a fair deal.

Yes, that $22500 did include the loader with quick attach bucket. However, that price includes a $2,000 discount for paying cash. I do believe it is s good price, and will probably finalize the deal tomorrow or Monday. I visited a 2005 L4620 owner a few days ago, and when he bought his new the price was $25500. That tractor appeared to be a little better built than the new models, since it had reinforcing on the steps, and a few other places. I believe that the L4600 may have cut corners a little. The step on the L4600 seems a little weak to me, since when you step on it, the whole fender moves. I'm not that heavy, 190 pounds.

Update: I called the dealer a few minutes ago. That price is correct, $22500 L4600HST w/loader a quick attach bucket, and loaded rear tires, delivered. He does not have the tractor in stock, but will be receiving it from another dealer no later then Monday, 17 September.

Thanks much for that information. It does seem that I've been offered an excellent deal. I did not get any rear hyd. I am considering getting a package deal with a Bush Hog. Due to overstock, he is offering me a new 6 ft Bush Hog mower, supposedly at his cost of $1100. He has no 5 footers. Will the L4600 handle a six footer well, since he said it will extend beyond the rear tires a few inches?

You certainly want to move to a 6 footer for L4600 which more than capable.

Thanks for your opinon, JC-jetro. The saleman told me that the five footers retail for over his $1100 price for the 6. Also, in checking the Bush Hog site, it looks like the 6 footers have 11 gauge steel, where the 5's have 10 gauge.
