Awaiting delivery on our new L4600 4x4. Curious if there are any issues now that you have owned it for six months.... Any suggestions for a new L4600 owner?

We purchased my grandparents' ranch with 25 acres of walnuts... We have a 1970's Ford 2000 tractor (2 wheel drive) which simply wasn't enough tractor for all the work we have ahead of us. The 0% financing deal made the deal even sweeter. Really excited to get our tractor working out there!

Congrats:thumbsup:, great machine. Very smooth Synch shuttle and good specs. The only slightly negative on it is that it is assembled in Thailand from Japaneses components.

JC,

Because I bought one. I bought and paid for one to arrive in 6 weeks to my dealer's place. I went thru the whole tractor and including WSM ( Work Shop Manual)and no where there was a mention of it. It never dawned on me that it might have been manufactured anywhere but Japan. I wanted to check out the Loader piping and one Saturday I stopped by to take a few pics that I noticed it. Asked the dealer and he said, "I was mistaken" and if "I were sure", told him, why not we go out and see the tag on the Chassis. I told him to check out with the factory to see if they also manufacture the same model in Japan. He phoned me later on that and what he learned was that is "assembled with Japanese part in Thailand". I found some articles later on that Kubota is working on a new line to be manufactured more competitively same as others. Originally, I narrowed down my choices to L4600DT or MX4700DT with a very minor price difference. The l4600 was not even ordered when I found the anomaly, so I told him the deal is off unless it is MX4700DT. He complied and ordered me a MX4700 to be delivered soon. He was blind sided also as he had no clue. On the 30 tractors in his yard L4600 was the only one "Thailand assembled".

I am planning on buying a new 2012 L4600 HST this week, or possibly next. This Thailand assembly bothers me a little, so may reconsider. I sold my Massey M245 yesterday. The comparable John Deere is almost $10,000 more money. With the $2000 cash discount, the price for the 4 by 4 with loader is $22500.

To be fair, L4600 does not at all suffer from any fit or finish issue. NH re badged some Korean LS and it shows very quickly if you get close. Basic utility ag by Deere looks pretty good and seems to have been built well in India. I think with Kubota probably main thing is low wages in Thailand to afford them building a slightly cheaper tractor. If name was not an issue some utility Mahindra tractor are 100% Japanese Mitsubishi. I have driven l4600 for couple of hrs and nothing sounded any alarm for me but the sticker. If it were not for the sticker then no way , no how I could tell by it's look and appearance of inferior workmanship. I had only one chance at it and did not want to have remorse later on.

JC,

ps. for about the same money I'm getting MX-4700 with certainly heavier rear end and loader and synchronized 3rd and 4th gear that is very smooth. I did a little bettter with the cash price but gear though rather than HST.
