After reading a lot on this forum and elsewhere, I finally decided on a JD 990 with four wheel drive to use to mow and blade the driveway and roadside on property my wife and I own in the badlands of western ND. I just took delivery yesterday, and thought I would attach a picture of my new "piece."
The other tractors I drove and considered (largely because the dealer had them in stock) were the 3320 and the 5103. I liked the 5103, but it was a little big for my garage and it was two wheel drive. I think the best way to describe the 990 vs the 3320 is that the 990 looks and feels like a small farm tractor, while the 3320 looks and feels more like a large garden tractor. The 990 is clearly much simpler than the 3320, but that's fine with me. I couldn't be happier with my choice.
I bought a used JD 513 5 foot brush cutter, and a new Woods RB 72 6 foot rear blade.
To answer a question I had in a previous post, the width of the 990 appears to be about 66 inches, certainly not the 79 inches stated in the brochure.
