Nice,.
Kinda fun to do as well.
Last I made used an old metal file and shaped it into a general purpose/skinning blade.
We were able to quarter a large moose without honing the blade.
File steel sure keeps a good edge.

Good looking knife. I had a friend in Tennessee. whose Father made and sold knives that he made from crosscut saw blades. When his supply of crosscut saw blades became low, he sometimes substituted circular saw blades. What kind of wood is the handle made from? At first, I thought it might be rosewood, but it appears to be stained.

Well first you have to heat it to 1460 degrees ( to aneal it bring it to a non magnetic state) I do this in my wood stove on Beach coals then cool it slowly, i cool mine by burrying it in wood ashes. Then you cut it so you can heat it back up and open it to a semi circular shape and pound it flat .It takes a while but makes a nice looking blade. I do the re-heating with a oxy acet torch and use an Anvil.

Good choice in wood. I really couldn't tell from the photo. Didn't mean to appear subjective in regards to the stain issue. Good handiwork.
