Tractor
Kubota M7040 cab/hyd shuttle - current, Kubota L3400 - traded
I finally got it delivered today. It's been a blast to play around with.

L3400HST, FEL, Woods BrushBull 60 Rotary Cutter, Horst Welding toothbar, Kubota ballast box.

Tons of thanks to all of you who have given me help in making my decision - particularly to those of you who talked me into a FEL. Tons of more thanks to those of you who will be giving me more advice as I start to use the tractor - the fun has only begun!.

The 3pt hitch was a bit easier to use than I had envisioned but I might spring for a quick hitch anyway to save the bending and pushing implements around :). I can now see how telescopic lowerlinks would help. My hunt for the right quick hitch begins :).

Still trying to decide whether or not to get my rear tires loaded.

I've got to tell you guys - I've got implement fever now!. I keep thinking "Wouldn't it be nice to have such and such implement... the things I could do with it". :)

Few pics of the machine. I'll try to get some better ones tomorrow.

Congrats canoetrpr, I got almost the same setup last Wed. The attachments are a different brand and I did not get a ballast box. Work sort of becomes fun doesn't it? I can't figure out what all that white stuff is in the photo. We rarely see anything like that here.

Canoetrpr,

I know we may do things a bit different here in the US…… But we use plows or snow blowers to move that white stuff.

Have fun,

Gary

Gary - you mean that woods rotary cutter I paid all that money for won't even move a bit of snow?

Sweey looking.

Please don't tell us you were running the mower in the snow!! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif I'm guessing you won't need to mow for a few more months.

Congratulations. Very nice. Would you mind if I asked for a price breakdown on your purchase. I would like to compareit with my dealer in Manitoba. Thanks.

Sure..

L3400HST + FEL + Industrial tires + Block heater = $22200 CDN.
Woods BB60 rotary cutter = $1800 CDN.
Toothbar = $550 CDN.
Kubota ballst box = $150 CDN.

+ GST + PST

I might be off a hundred bucks on the total or so.

0% financing for 36 months.

Not quite the deal our cousins in the south are able to get on these machines - given the exchange rate these days.... but there was a time when cars and tractors were a bargain here when our dollar was lower and I wasn't asking the car makers here to raise the price on cars back then :)

Bare in mind also that pricing is VERY VERY local. At least that's what I found so don't be surprised if you find that you can get a much better (or not as good) deal than I got - depending on your area.

You may be in a very good position to haggle a bit as the JD 3203 seems to be designed to compete directly with the L3400 and to be honest if it was around when I was making my deal, I would have given it a fair shot and I'm not really sure which would have won out if the pricing was close. I have not seen that machine but the specs do make it look quite good.

Great choice! Very heavy duty looking attachment! What part of Ontario are you in? I'm in Mount Albert near Newmarket. Congratulations! Shawn

You've bought a great sounding rig, and one I'd like to have for my own use too! Congratulations! (Who's the short guy trying to drive off on your new rig??) /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Hi Shawn:

I'm down the road from you - in Queensville on the edge of Mt. Albert. Heck I even have a 473 phone number :).

About that attachment.... boy do I feel silly but my dealer should feel sillier.

I was admiring the tractor today. Had a measure tape with me measuring my ballast box to see if it would be QH compatible and I realize... hey my rotary cutter is only 48" and not the 60" that I paid for!... On closer examination I found that the serial # on it did not match the one on my contract!.

Honest mistake on the part of the dealer. He's going to be up here with my 5 footer in a few days.

It's my first tractor and I guess I was so exited that I didn't see the great big WOODS48 on the side of it where I should have seen a WOODS60!

I do feel pretty silly though.

Nice. I have a B7800 with FEL, box blade, rear blade, Brush mower and front snow blower. Traction is a problem at times. I plan to fill the tires for the extra traction. You will really love your new 'toy'.

Superdave - do you still find traction a problem if you use a ballast box?

/ My L3400 is finally here! #18
I always have either my box blade on or the regular blade. I think the box blade weighs approx. 250 lbs. I usually have traction problems when I use the box blade to do my driveway which is 1 mile long. I have a few hills, and if I don't fill the bucket with gravel or dirt, I end up spinning out up the hills. As well in the winter, the extra weight would be nice when I snow blow the driveway. Your tractor is heavier than the 7800 so maybe it won't be as big a problem. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Another thought. I also have a 5' rotary mower and do quite a bit of brush mowing. The lower arms of my 3 pt hitch use linch pins to hold the arms on the tractor. I have lost a few of these while brush mowing. The small saplings must be hooking the pins and pulling them off. I use bolts now since I never take the lower arms off.
