Only time will tell if freezing to the waterers will be a problem. One suggestion I might have would be to heat tape the trap on the sink as the water in the trap can freeze and back up the sink.

Good thinking, Cyril! Plus, I have a few extra feet of heat tape to use up.
The big head-scratcher for me is what to do about the toilet that will someday be in the bathroom. The only thing I can think to do to keep the toilet from freezing is to insulate and heat the bathroom. Do they make heated toilets? Sounds kind of luxurious for a horse barn.

In the rest areas in the mountains around here, they use a stainless steel toilet. I don't know if there is anything else special about it, but I know they use them because of issues of freezing. Another option we looked at for awhile, were incinerating toilets. ECOJOHN l Portable Incinerating Toilets Just a thought.

jcaron- We keep a couple gallons of RV Anti Freeze handy for those cold snaps. Kill the water, Flush and hold flapper, then a quart in the tank, and 1/2gal in the bowl, maybe a splash in the sink trap......!

What a great job! I hadn't visited this post in quite a while, and it sure is nice to see all the progress.
My only thought/question would be if you plan on lining the first couple of feet of the walls in the wash rack? I know there is some paint on bed liner products out there that work great for the repelling of water. I used it on the exterior of the dog house I built. There are several colors available and it would fill in the cracks on the wood joints to prevent moisture buildup.

Progress, what progress? It has been close to a month and no updates, what gives? It's like reading a book and finding out the last chapter is missing. We need an update here.
He's doing better than I am. Still too wet to do much here.

LOL! Sorry guys. I'll get some of the latest pics posted (including some of the wash stall). It's mostly been plumbing, electrical, and drainage lately, so I can't promise there'll be anything awe-inspiring, but I'll at least post something.
As for lining the washrack, I'm hoping it'll be water resistant enough the way it is. There are five coats of polyurethane on all the boards. The bottom three coarses are pressure treated. I'm planning to use clear exterior caulk between all the boards and where the wall meets the floor, as well as behind the shower valve that I'm using for hot/cold running water. Also, the boards are oriented tongue-up, so that if any water gets into the cracks, it shouldn't go too far in (though I'm sure some water would wick up into the groove if it got in there). There's no exposed end grain anywhere nearby either.
