Thanks to some great advice from a fellow TBNer for which I am grateful... I learned that even though my gas company told me where to place the tank relative to the heater vent... it does NOT meet code!

:smiley_aafz:

But I think not a big issue... the tank comes Tuesday... so I have time, and luckily the real estate to relocate where the tank will be placed. Not ideal aesthetically and I have to run more pipe (10ft) but I think it is easily fixed. Could have been a huge issue considering the property constraints.

Now the question is whether I am breaking quarantine orders to go get some more pipe this weekend? I'm thinking this falls under the essential needs category. :D

We are getting cabin fever... thankfully we moved out of King County about 12 years ago so we are not ground zero but still trying to only go to town for groceries.

Here is a cheaper style of manometer that I worked with back in the 80's. It had so much dust on it I couldn't read the scale. And the stretchy tubing is really brittle. I don't know if anyone makes this type anymore.
I used water in the tube. It was a little hard to see but a good flashlight made it easier.

That is a good old fashion manometer! No worries about digital electronics failing! WYSIWYG.

I don't know about your state regs but New Mexico states a propane tank if less then 100 gals it can be placed against the house where as a propane tank larger than 100 gals needs to be 10 feet away. Maybe they were quoting a smaller tank.

By the way nice wood working shop.

I don't need heat in Texas as I took my heater out to make more room. I just don't work on really cold days. But up North I understand.

Yes against the house is okay for 120gal tank but it can't be less than 10ft from the vent. In this case I am venting into and out of the shop. Makes sense that you don't want potential leaking propane gas to be sucked in as combustion air.

I bought one of those back in the 50s when AC&R techs worked on gas appliances and furnaces. Also used it to check static pressures in ductwork. Worked great with a little coloring in the water. More reliable than electronics even though cumbersome at times. Carried it in the service truck for years.

I know... I am getting soft in my old age. As retirement is coming and the potential for this space to become a more used 'doghouse' :D I see the need for heat so I can spend quality time in the shop and create stuff like Big Barn... in a comfy space.

You will make very good use of your heated shop Mark. I'm in mine every day. There right now. Productivity comes and goes like waves on a soothing beach.

I will keep that in mind when I feel like having a nap in the shop.

I just told my wife I need to run into town today. She said why... I told her I needed an Elbow, a Tee, two nipples, and a cap. She came back quickly and said, if you get two nipples, I will give you an elbow, and cap your knee!
