Kioti CK20 HST
Went to my dealer to pick up parts and service manuals I had them order for me and no tractors, no literature, holy cow.

They said a new dealer sales rep for the northeast have been poor in response and Kioti wants them to stock too much inventory.

They had certainly more tractors on display when I've been there in the past, moreso than Mitch's repair in norfolk, ma and also freeman's in connecticut and also Kens in Keene, NH when Ken still owned it. So they dropped Kioti and Kioti did nothing for them.

Mitch's in Norfolk is gone and the guy from my dealer said Freeman's in CT is having similar thoughts.

For reference, my dealer (now former Kioti dealer) is Harvard Power Equipment in Harvard, MA

My dealer will still get parts and take care of me -- the mechanic is really good.

It's too bad... Options for me are Bobcat of boston or Pats power in RI.
There's also Freemans as long as they are still in it, and Orchard hill equipment out in belchertown, ma, but that's a bit of a haul.

He also told me competition from Toreku Kubota right up the street and a JD dealer about 10 miles away have made it tough.

They said they're going to take a look at New Holland and see if NH will be more reasonable for them.

Another comment he made was something about the Grand L from kubota being a strong price point and the cab on it is thrown in whereas Kioti doesn't have a cab to offer for a similar machine or it's more money or something along those lines. I guess he was trying to say Kubota is competing with a lot of success...

Not sure how much is truth versus possibly other issues... it's simply too bad. He was also saying if the bobcat machines were orange instead of white, it would promote the brand more and help existing Kioti dealers.

Disclaimer: None of this is my opinion and any of it could be wrong -- I'm simply trying to remember with as best accuracy as I can what he had to say about it. Personally I kind of tend to agree that if the Bobcats were orange it would help people know about the brand better. Everyone on the street does indeed think my tractor is a kubota until they look at the decal on the loader...

They were my first dealer too. Initially they were a Gehl dealer and a more general outdoor power equipment shop so they were never really much of a tractor dealership. That said they were pleasant to work with and it is too bad they decided to quit. Bobcat of Boston is actually 20 minutes closer for me so I still have a local shop around.

Bummer..... I just noticed on the Kioti website that they were a dealer and that is where I was headed next week, they are less than 15 min from work.

Kioti has adopted policies on numbers of tractors that a dealer needs to buy in a year that essentially drive the smaller "mom and pop" dealers out of business. That is not a bad thing generally for Kioti owners. How many tiny Kubota or JD dealers do you see? It is part of the expansion and growth of Kioti as a company/brand and is therefore indicative of good things for the most part.

The dealer Malk and I shared was a nice dealer but they were not especially experienced in tractors and the Kioti tractors did not make up the majority of their business at all. This is not a high tractor use area generally (we are talking outlying Boston suburbs here) and the fact that there was a well established Kubota dealer a mile or so away I'm sure also hurt. Kioti doesn't have a BX line type tractor or smaller cab tractors which is what is more likely to sell this area than a DK45s so Kubota's tractor range is more appropriate here too. One additional factor that probably cut into Harvard Outdoor Power's business was the fact that Bobcat of Boston, with three big stores in the region, took on the Kioti line (the real orange ones) sometime earlier this year.

Bottom line for me is that it really doesn't matter much. It is always a bit sad to see someone's business take a hit (the dealer is actually quite healthy as a small power equipment place though) but the closing doesn't say anything negative about the brand or the availability of parts/service etc in this region.

If Bobcat of Boston Shrewsbury, MA store is stocking orange kiotis, that's huge for me as it's right up the street compared to Harvard.

I'll call 'em tomorrow or next week to see what's up.

Maybe I'll pick up an aerator from them to do some business since I didn't buy my tractor from them.

I've seen the orange ones at the North Reading store. Nice guys at the parts counter too.

Too bad that was where I bought my tractor :( . I was just there a couple weeks ago and bought some filters and some zerks as well as a new lawn mower (walk behind though). Hopefully they will continue to get parts well into the future because they were closer than Kens or Orchard Hill. I suppose time will tell.

Gee, I'm sorry to hear that. Bought my CH20HST from them, and it's only 19 miles away - affordable for shop service.

Do I understand that Bobcat dealers are now offering full service for Kioti? Otherwise, I'd better hope nothing else big breaks...
