Brandi, I hope the closing on the house happens soon and things can get back to reasonably normal. I'm very sorry to hear that you and your brother have disagreements and difficulty over the property. We'll be pulling for you and hoping all this stress is soon relieved. When my own father passed away, I had property to be sold and a small mobile home park that had to be closed. Each one of those families had to find another place to live, and I was the target of their animosity in most cases. The day of the closing, I was relieved beyond words. I hope that happens soon for you.

That is good news --- I always thought "closing" was aptly named cause it not only closes a deal .... it closes a chapter in your life that lets you then move on to do other things. ......with the money to do them!

Brandi, anytime you can close a real estate deal in this down economy, you've done well. My wife and I have been lucky to close two deals in 2009. We must have a little magic wand in our pocket. Thanks! We lacked 4 days of closing on the same house last April when Dad died. So I had anxiety built up twice on closing the same house!

It is sad how some members of a family seem to only want to harm the family.

Some things in life are worth reading more than once. This thread is one of those to me. My Dad passed away just over 40 years ago being the first major passing of my life. Today I still miss him and cherish those memories and yes the rungs in the ladder.
