Rabcon, are you sure that's what the Kubota dealer said? It doesn't make much sense for a company to act that way unless maybe they are still trying to figure it out themselves.

Please don't think that I was questioning what you were told; I simply worded it poorly.

What I would like to see is for dealers and owners to work together to figure out the reason for the problem. Once that is known then I'd be surprised if we couldn't come up with simple measures to protect against this happening to the tractors right now this winter. We could do that while Kubota is working on a more permanent fix.

Does the crankcase vent have a obvious restriction that could freeze or a low spot where moisture could collect? Without seeing the system I'm just guessing one could block off where the vent connects to the intake and run tubing to atmosphere instead, like tractors used to have. Maybe I'm making this too simple without seeing how it's set up b

It sounds like pulling the dipstick may stop this type of runaway. There may be some spray when pressure is released.

Any idea what models this affects? I have an MX5100 and wonder if I'm in the mix.

It shouldn't as the 5100 it a different tier engine. It sounds like it is specifically related to the 5200 Tier 4 engines.

Seems like tier 4 is more like for tears.

Seems like the dipstick would blow off its own if crankcase is positive. Oil filler cap would create more venting.
