Mowing fence lines

I would like to ask for advice from anybody who owns or operates a fence line mower (the kind that pivots around the fence posts when pulled behind a tractor or ATV). I have just installed 1800 feet of fencing and need to invest in something other than a string trimmer. I appreciate any input that you may have to share.

I've never heard of a "fence line mower". In any event, I've got about that much fence to mow as well. What's worked for me is: using a 15 gallon (you may want to go 20-25 gallons) hooked up to the ATV battery and spray along the fence line. I'll only need to do this about 3 times per season (in Maryland) and then I can just mow right down the line because everything 6" on each side of the fence is dead. It takes about 1.5 to spray.

Yes, the Swisher is one that I am considering. But I am wondering about the more robust attachments that may have blades insteads of strings. Does anyone have experience with those?

Since I was a kid, 50 + years ago, we always have used a sickle bar mower to mow under bobwire of electric or high tensile fences. When the posts are closer than 12 ft, it is a little slow, otherwise, it is a wonderful late afternoon project. Ken Sweet

I have owned and used the Postmaster by Swisher and was not impressed. Ken Sweet

I too wondered how well they worked, never got one, Roundup in the tank sprayer on the atv works just fine.
