Mowing mower retraction

Last year I didn’t understand why the mower would only go up and down in a very restricted way. This year I noticed an inverted “L “shaped piece of metal ( see attached photo) has to sit on top of the arm. This has made all the difference. The mower goes up and down really well. Is this in the manual?

That is why the spreader bar on the 2210 is so important--as well as the adjustment (centering) of the lower links. It is one of those few things you give up on the 2210, but it is a pain in the butt. BTW, what is all that white powder--fertilizer? If so, you had better get it washed off and get some anti-corrosive on those surfaces!

No its not fertilizer, its clay residue.If I could think of a way of putiing this stuff in a bottle I could dramatially undercut Elmers
