Mowing mower deck lift motor

i have a MF 2718 lawn tractor and the mower deck lift motor intermitently stops working. I have by passed all of the switches and applied 12VDC to the motor and it works most of the time but every once in a while it stops working.

if anyone has the correct name for the part or a part number, i'd appreciate it.

I'm not at all familiar with that tractor, but if you have a DC motor that sometimes stops or fails to start, it sounds like the brushes and/or armature may be in need of attention.

If you can remove the motor without too much trouble, I'd do that and take it to a motor repair shop, unless you're comfortable dismantling it yourself. Often, a new set of brushes and some cleaning on the armature contacts will make it operate like new again. (But don't forget to check out the bearings!)
