I recall reading somewhere here about axle stands for a Kubota mower deck (replaces gauge wheels and holds deck upright for easy storage). Anyone know where they are sold?
Thanks

MowerAxle

I have been using Larry's axles for about 4 years now with great success. I highly recomend them

Yeah I've got a set, you can't go wrong with them. Its kind of handy for cleaning the deck also. Just get a helper or two when standing the deck up, I can do it alone but it's a grunt.

I've used the stands for one year and they are great to hold up the deck, taking up less space, and for ease of cleaning. But the gear box did leak some fluid over the winter. It was easy to add some at the beginning of mower season.

I have heard of a few other Kubota owners mention the oil leakage also...never a drop from my JD mower though.

The Mrs got a set of them for me as a present, great gift :D

They not only make for a great stowage solution but also make servicng 100% easier.
I'm on my 5th season and no gear box leaks yet. Course I'd just probably slide a catch pan under it if'n it did :D
Some have made similar but I'm very happy with my "store bought" :D

I wouldn't be without them. Essential.

I made a set and every time i drop the mower just for a short time I regret not using them - and I have the bruises on my shins to show for not using them.. LOL

LOL! I know about the bruises you speak of. I ordered my axles today and they ship tomorrow! This thread reminded me to not be lazy and order the darn things. I won't miss the deck slamming into my legs one bit!

I got my mower deck axles today! Nicely packaged, very well made, and it came to my house in 2 days! If all customer service could be so good.

My mower axles were delivered today, they look great.

I don't plan to use them until fall cleanup is done then I will take the deck off for the winter.

Has anyone used a pressure washer to clean under the deck when it is on the axles? Will the pressure washer blow it over? Or do you have to support it somehow.

I used a pressure washer while mine was on the axle stands with no issues. It would take a fire hose to knock it over or the world's most powerful pressure washer in my opinion.

Ditto Evil the Weasel-- but just to be sure, I approached the upright deck carefully to test stability as I got closer. No problems, and the pressure washer did a very nice job, even on gravel driveway. Those axles work very well, glad I got a set!

So, as for the anti-scalp wheels, I noticed mine are really getting chewed up. Is the greasable bushing thing recommended, or should I wait until the wheels die (if they do) and replace them then? I don't see much savings sending the old wheels in to be fitted as the shipping and retro of "used" wheels will cost about 1/2 of the savings. Have any of you done the anti-scalps? Is it worth it?

It may be that the height setting is/has been too low-- took me a while to figure it out, but apparently the cutting height should be set by the little thumbwheel on the floor of the tractor and not by the wheel height; the wheels should only contact ground when necessary to prevent... yep, scalping. (I had it backwards initially...) At least, I THINK I have it correct now! :D

Don't know about repair on the wheels-- sounds like replacement would be the way to go.

Can someone get me some close up pictures of these so I can make some. I would really appreciate it.
