My Kubota manual states to not reverse front wheels, but I don't know about JD. My Son reversed his front wheels on his 4300 with R1s. It "plows" real bad when turning.
I also agree with previous post, you gain little stability when reversing fronts. By the time the front axle is what's holding you upright, it will be too late for reversed wheels to offer much hope.
On my Kubota I moved the rears out until the inside of my front tires and rear tires are an equal distance apart. This turned out to be the second from widest position. Changed the stability of the tractor considerably.
You may already be here, but the best thing you can do is weight the rears with fluid or bolt-on weights to gain stability.
