I moved my rear tires into the wider position. I didn't just swap sides because that was too wide. I removed the centers and reattached them in the middle postion.. I have not used it yet but it definetly moved them out and made a wider stance. I am not sure I am going to like it that wide. Do any of you guys use yours in a wider position and also do they make wheel spacer where you can leave them on the narrow position and just space them out a few inches? Thanks

Mine has 7 different width combonations from 55.1" to 78.7". Never thought about spacers.

I did this on my parent's Kubota L2550 and WHAT a difference it made in stability! If your terrain is flat, it doesn't really matter, but on the hills the difference is huge.

I believe my fronts were already in the wide position but I will have to look at it a little closer.

Most compact tractor owners manuals say not to put your front wheels
in the wider position. This is likely due to the additional load they put
on the bearings and possibly due to the change in scrub radius. Changing
the fronts also gains almost nothing in stability as the front axle pivots in the center.

I widen the rears to the max for all my AG-wheeled tractors. Two-piece
compact tractor AG wheels will give you 4 possible widths, from what I have
owned. One piece R4 wheels are not supposed to be switched.

My fronts are in the position the dealer set them up. Mine are r-4 and the rears are two piece, that is how I moved them into the not so wide position. Thanks for the info. Makes since on the front. By the way did you get final pics of your 4300 rebuild?

We tested out a 4720 last year and it had one piece turf wheels front and
rear. I did not know these larger machines came with 2-piece R4 wheels.
Wider is usually better, unless you have row crop issues. What does your
OM say?

My 4300 is currently as you see it. I have a new hr meter on order, and
I just got a pile of new hyd fittings to install.

I have not referred to the manual yet but I will later this week when I get some time off. Nice work on the tractor. It is a shame to see equipment abused like that. That is why I have gotten to the point I will not loan my equipment out anymore. I am happy to help friends but I will be in the tractor seat. Learned that the hard way by loaning my tractor to my brother. That dude would tear up a prybar in a sandbox. Nice job on the rebuild keep up the good work.

.

I've never seen this in any John Deere manual. Can you provide a link?
