Mountain Tractor Choices (hills, slopes, pasture, forest)

It's not difficult to modify a stock tractor for work on hills and slopes.
My 1964 MF135 diesel was altered to work in an orchard. The rear tires are 18.5 x 16 radials (16" dia wheel) that provide high flotation. Tires this size are typically used on combines or large grain trucks. The rears are 2/3 filled with a 50/50 water-antifreeze mixture.

The front axle spindles were shortened to keep the tractor level.

Good luck

The 4610 is very stable. We don't have the mountains that you have but our farms are rolling and has areas that you can easily turn a tractor over. Those areas I traverse up and down. My brush hog is over 1100# but it is no issue on any of our hills. If you need a FEL the SU with the swept front axle is not the strongest.

Don't know how far you're willing to go away from a compact...

...but these are hillside capable with plenty of power and traction, and can be had for around $9k.
