Most fun gun to shoot?

I was the trigger (lanyard) man on an 8" howitzer so most everything else is passe' but the ma duece comes to mind. Nothing like ripping something up and seeing it happen. I do like to pop hogs with my heavy barrel Ruger 22-250 at 600 or 800 feet or so.

My dad had a Marlin 39a when I was a kid, and I shot it a lot, I would really love to have that rifle back again. They are so darn expensive to buy new.

I'd say .22s in general are the funnest to shoot. Cheaper compared to others although now not that cheap if you can find shells at all. I have a 25 year old Remington semi auto .22 and a one year old Henry carbine lever action .22. I also have a Ruger Mark II target pistol. I'd say the .22 pistol is the funnest - wow that thing is incredibly accurate, followed by the Henry, then the Remington semi auto. My .357 magnum revolver is very fun, but I feel like I have been in a war after 20 rounds or so. I wear double ear protection but the concussion kind of wears on me.

I have an older (around 50yrs) Remington Speedmaster 552 that is a .22. It can shoot S, L, and LR rounds, with a tube magazine that can hold 20 S, 17 L, or 15 LR rounds. When there is not an ammo shortage, it is very cheap to shoot, and fairly accurate as well. It is incredibly dependable as well.

The newer 39's don't have a good reputation. No personal experience, but I've read more bad then good.
Mine is of 1950's or early 1960's manufacture...great rifle.
So, look for an oldie but a goodie!

Probably one of the most impressive guns that I have ever shot was a Barrett in .50 caliber BMG. A gentleman was shooting one at the rifle range one day and asked me if I wanted to try a couple of rounds.

Have a friend with one. Just loading something that big into the breech is impressive. Has to be at the top of the list but with ammo prices today I can barely afford 22 lr.

Yep, spot on with the 39a. Mine is from 1958, same year as my Win 94. Both have crisp non-lawyer'd up triggers, no safety other than a half-cock notch, peep sights.

The Marlin 39 A would be a close second for me, mine was bought in 1961 via mail order and mom picked it up at the train station, how times have changed; great little gun. I thought about having it refinished, but I know how it got ever little scratch and ding; memories.
