Modification to bush hog...

I saw this picture of a JD bush hog on craigslist and noticed a modification on it that looks pretty slick. At least, if it does what I think it does.... looks like someone mounted a disk on each front corner that is made to rotate? If that's what they are for, when you hit a tree or fencepost that should help keep the corner of the bush hog off of the tree or post. Has anybody seen this done before?? It seems like if it was a great idea, more bush hogs would have them?

You see similar wheels on boat docks to deflect a boat along the dock.

Also used in other applications so not a new idea

Brush hog or bush hog, technically interchangeable but not really mowing bushes but rather brush. So mow the brush and trim the"bush". All I have to say about that.
