model slt1554 pto problems

My husband forgot to disengage pto in our slt 1554 cc while reversing and the mower safety kicked it off. Now it will not come back on, you pull the pto switch and nothing, he thought maybe there was a loose connection and unplugged it and plugged it back in. Last year I had the same problem, but after a few tries it worked again. Now nothing. Any ideas?
If we bypass the pto safety switch (the metal tab that hits the safety switch) as many others have done will this cure it? Or is there something we need to look for, like a loose connection somewhere else?
Any help greatly appreciated!

I had a similar problem last year after cutting just one time. The dealer I bought it from came out and replaced a small black module under the battery the controls the safty part of the mower.

All has been fine for now, except I have problems going up and down my 25% hill. Seems the transmission is not capable of using all of the 27 hp that they put under the hood.

That will cure the problem if it's caused by a bad Reverse switch or the switch out of adjustment. It could also be caused by the seat switch, although that would probably kill the engine also, or a problem with the PTO itself.

Sounds like a relay problem. Relay probably located on right side under battery but exposed. Next time it happens, leave pto switch in on position and open hood and tap relay with fingers, if it engages your relay is sticking; replace it.
