Backhoe Model 48 backhoe on a 955?

   / Model 48 backhoe on a 955? #21
I've got a 48 hoe on my 32 hp 4310 seems to be a good fit, I thought a 955 was in the same class, though this one for sale looks heavier than a 48.

The biggest reason I thought the hoe in the photo was maybe an 8, and
not a 48, is because JD went to 2 swing cyls for the 48. Doesn't your
hoe have dual swing cyls, JB?

Wasn't there also a JD 9 hoe? It could be that, too.

As for equipment prices, it is quite hard to sell construction equipment
these days. I have seen some stunning deals on hoe attachments,
excavators, and skidsteers. If any one is remotely interested in buying
a hoe, now is the time to find a bargain.

Mine definitely has the the swing cylinders. Just a guess but I think that hoe is at least a couple of models earlier than the 48.

Equipment prices around here are at all time lows, especially heavy equipment like dozers and excavators. you can't give away the older stuff, guys either want brand new, financed to the hilt or they have no work at all.

2 wheel drive tractors also, you can get just about any brand or size under 40 hp for 2-3 grand, as much as you'd pay for a riding mower at Lowes.

JB.

The 955 weighs a tick under 2K lbs. This is why I decided against this hoe. I would be willing to take a shot on it for that price... old or other wise. I also could find someone to weld a frame to fit... but as stated by several other people that know way better than I, I think that it's too big for my tractor and would probably drag it around.

I'd rather have a loader first anyway.

You're not supposed to work the backhoe without the loader installed anyway...

Yeah. I wasn't planning on it. I was going to buy the hoe and let it sit until I got a loader... since this one is so cheap. It's just too big.
