Has anyone had any luck getting a 47 2-stage snowblower to throw better? Mine seems to be a little weak. It, like me, is getting quite a few hours on it and starting to show it's age. The fan seems to be fine, however, the clearance to the housing seems to be about a 1/4" maybe a little more. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

:welcome:

Are the impeller blades worn at the tips? Runs in my mind that about the thickness of a dime is needed. Over 1/4" may be too "loose".

I would guess the problem is more about the water content of the snow and the amount of snow being feed into it rather than a mechanical problem. 1/4" or more of clearance between the fan and the shroud is about what a new one has. And, when the blower goes into a drift, that 1/4" of clearance disappears because the snow packs in there.

willie,
which blower do you have on that tractor?
the big ol beast with the gearbox on the back
of the blower housing , or the quick hitch
style with the double chain sprockets?

there may be an issue with your pto drive,
i believe that comes down from the front of
the motor with a belt/pulley setup?
