Mowing MMM Mower blades bent? replace? 62c

on my 62 c mower deck it appears the plane of the cutting edges are not parallel to the plane of the hub. If that 's the case wouldn't uneven wear from one blade to the others cause an uneven cut? how do I know if one is bent? If I have large gouges from hitting say a rock with one of the three blades should I replace that blade? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

That is what I do (replace). I keep an extra set, and just change out the bent or badly knicked ones.
I have found that the blades will bend if getting a green hickory or oak stick (limb) caught under the deck and thrashing around, as well as when a short stump is caught with a blade, causing it to dive into the wood and bend.
But I try not to abuse them too much. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

I visited a saw blade sharpening shop, and he told me he bends the bent blades back straight. I may try that and see if they last very long.

I identify the bent ones by measuring the tip of the blade, and then swinging it around 180° to measure the other tip. Or spin the blades so they pass each other, and look to see of the tips are at the same height. If they are ¼" off, I call them 'bent'.

Consider Gator blades for the 62C. I couldn't be more happy with them. As for bending after hitting something, the bent profile of the Gator's may provide additional strength over factory blades. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

I just had the same on issue on my 2210 62c. I'm replacing all three blades (you have to buy set of 3 from JD) since I'm selling, but agree that replacing only the bent one is necessary. Mine was going over a stump that I "thought" I'd cut low enough /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif It was obvious I had a problem when my nice even cutting was all of a sudden scalping in the middle.
