I'll answer this for Jeremy! :)

"The Dougster are a dang mechanical engineer and should have figured this out for himself by now"! :D

And it is true. I have rebuilt both latching mechanisms... but the QA buckets still keep managing to break loose... mainly when there is upward pressure on the bucket relative to the tool carrier. I swear I cannot figure out why this is still happening... other than to chalk it up to small pins and a generally loose fit

By now, I should have taken and posted some new pictures of the bucket and tool carrier right before a typical drop. You can actually see the bucket pulling away from the pin landing and the top edge then slipping out. But how is this happening with the latching pins fully inserted and locked into position? I haven't a clue. :(

Dougster,
Would welding some more metal on the end of the pin help?

From Dougsters description it suggests to me that the bucket is not being captured well enuf in the bottom tapered areas that mate with the QA mechanism. Thats the only way I can see that the top side could come close to pulling out. Perhaps the bevel angle on the pin tips needs to be decreased.

After rereading all of Dougster's posts to this thread, I went out and looked at my bucket. I can see that the bottom angle on the tool carrier that is part of the bracket for the pin hole is just slightly bent. You have to look close, but it is bent. My tool carrier has about 1/4 inch of side to side slop from the worn paint on the bucket. No up and down slop. The bottom angle on the tool carrier would have to be bent about an inch and 1/2 or more before my bucket would disengage at the top first.
Dougster, have a welder weld in some shims (cheap:) ) to take the slop out or just buy a new and improved tool carrier (not so cheap:eek: ).

I am very pleased to report that Jeremy is on the case and I hope to report some serious progress very soon. All I can say right now is "Stay Tuned"! :)
