Mini-Split or Conventional for HVAC?

/ Mini-Split or Conventional for HVAC? #21
There are several threads discussing mini-splits here. Take a look around for them.

One of the great things about the mini-splits is the availability of DIY systems at reasonable prices. An average homeowner can install a decent sized system for less than $1,500 total.

With your situation have you looked at mini-split heat pumps? You can run them in reverse in the colder months to generate heat. A friend of mine installed one a couple years ago and it provides supplemental heat in those times of the year where you need heat but it's still too warm to run the wood stove. He installed his himself and just paid an HVAC tech to charge the refrigerant in the system.
