I got a pretty good deal on a Milemarker SEC8 winch. It is touted as a no frills winch and I cannot agree more. To freewheel it you are not suppose to use the "out" switch on the tethered controller because the brake is on in that position and it will overheat. (Ask me how I know.) So, you have to disengage the spool and pull the cable out. When I say pull I mean PULL! or more accurately PULL! I contacted MileMarker and they said the grease is too thick and to replace it with motor oil so I wiped the gears clean and added 30 weight oil. It is easier but still no walk in the park. Does anyone use this winch and what is your experience with it, especially with freespooling? I use it for parbuckling logs onto a trailer.
